Ohwe Lhiltore

Seeker of the Sun. Bare fist fighter. Lance specialist.

Hooks

  • A Seeker of the Sun with a Keeper of the Moon sounding name? While she'll try to steer the conversation away from her past using the usual "it's.. kind of a long story", it's sure to get her attention

  • Between working odd-jobs during her time living in Ul'dah, Ohwe participated in several... "first rule" type clubs. Maybe you've seen her fighting prowess on display first hand and recognized her from there?

  • During the weekends, Ohwe works at the Playboy Mansion, providing security as well as often taking a stage herself. Possibly you've seen her dancing, or, more than likely, sitting on the front desk, staring down patrons who may act out of line.

  • An example of personal discipline, Ohwe routinely exercises, her morning run consisting of the same loop around where she lives. Possibly you recognize her from seeing her consistently running the loop and want some advice?

  • Though when talking of discipline, Ohwe does make time for some rest and relaxation, often on the hunt for some activity during an off day. She'll often gravitate toward venues that are similar to her work on the weekend, but offer a unique enough experience to not remind her too much of work on a day off. Maybe you'll spot her in a normal, relaxed environment as she sips tea while burning fogweed. Ask to share and you may be in for a surprise!

  • Or.. perhaps you were in Kugane during one of the few "business" trips the miqo'te took to model some dresses and other various clothing and somehow, you recognized her from that time. Sure it's been a little while, and sure some of the basic appearances like hair had changed and a new scar is there, but you're sure that's the miqo'te you saw. Why not ask? Who knows where it'd lead.

Biography

Born to M'ralka Odh and sired by M'rahz Nunh in Gyr Abania. While she doesn't remember much of what happened, being so young at the time, M'tajha was taken with her mother and a few other women of the tribe to follow a disgraced Tia who had failed in his challenge to take over to become Nunh. While some of the other women had abandoned their tribe down to even changing their name, M'ralka wasn't so sure after a time that this new "tribe" would succeed, and chose to keep the name, at least until the tribe was proven. Her mother's intuition proved to be correct, and the tribe suffered a disastrous failure in leadership by the Tia, leading to M'ralka and M'tajha to wander off to the west, soon finding their way into The Shroud. Once there, a small sect of Keepers of the Moon encountered them, initially treating them as hostile until they realized it was only a woman and her young daughter and instead took them in, warming up to the interlopers, and treating them as though they were native. However though, unfortunately for M'ralka, the move from Gyr Abania to The Shroud was not kind to her. The change in climate only added on to underlying problems for the woman, and soon after, passed away, leaving her daughter in the care of the Keepers.

At this time, only old enough to know basic things, and being able to speak just her name and her mother's name, M'tajha began to be raised by the sect of Keepers, learning their traditions, their way of life, and when she became old enough, the more grey areas of how they survived; trapping. Not the best at hunting in the gloom of a Shroud night, at age 13, M'tajha became more familiar with the tools of the trade, most particularly the more crude lances that were used, having a smaller one made for herself to practice with in the hopes that one day, she would be able to participate and help in hunts earlier in the evenings.

On her 15th nameday, as a gift from the Keepers, M'tajha was then renamed to Ohwe. The Keeper's thought that it would be a gift to honor her in their own way, offering her a new name should she accept, as they had seen themselves the ones to raise her after her mother's passing. M'tajha accepted the new name, feeling honored that her adoptive home would accept her as such, and became known as Ohwe Lhiltore from that day, though she still remembers her old, given name from birth. With this level of acceptance from the Keepers, and her own desire to feel "at home", Ohwe took her new identity with pride, wanting and striving to be better than she was, spending most of her waking hours practicing her lance skills. By the time of her 19th nameday, she had become proficient in the use of the weapon, even going so far as to train specifically for various techniques and maneuvers deemed more advanced, as well as crafting her own lances, crude as they were.

At this time as well, the sect of Keepers had come to a decision. Ohwe could stay with them, live her life in The Shroud, or she would be given freedom to explore on her own. This decision was not made lightly by the Keepers, taking into consideration that they had practically raised her throughout her whole life, but deep down they knew that Ohwe was not one of them, and thus she should be given the choice now that she was old enough to understand the weight of the decision. Several moons passed, and Ohwe finally was able to give her response: She would set out on her own. With some help of her adoptive Keepers, Ohwe made it through The Shroud and into Gridania, immediately hopping onto an airship to set out for her first destination, picked out at random from the map in the airship landing itself: Ul'dah.

Ul'dah was both an interesting and a weird choice, the map showing it as a desert city which caught the miqo'te's interest. Through some of the conversations she had with the Keepers as she became more mature and able to understand her history, she had heard that her and her mother had walked into The Shroud from the east, a place the Keepers that took them in knew as only "desert" and not much else. Perhaps it was some hope in her mind that maybe, this was the desert they were talking about. On the map she glanced at before boarding the ship, it looked big enough on there to come up to where she thought they had been living all these years, though their nomadic style, following the hunts, did alter her sense of direction.

While in Ul'dah, the younger Seeker saw herself in little trouble at first, finding work at a stall on the Ruby Road Exchange, quickly learning and adapting to the dryer, warmer climate of the desert. Initial work was slow, a new stall set up to offer quick meals for those who skulk in the back alleys of Ul'dah, as well as traveling merchants between stops. These chance meetings between the two groups shaped what her life would become over the next few years, finding herself in more interesting and, at times, unsavory situations. Through one of these "unsavory situations", Ohwe did find some meaning, or at least another way to make gil, participating in underground fighting circuits, using her training from learning to hunt for a different purpose. Through the techniques she had practiced, including an impressive vertical leap as well as her level of agility, she won more fights than she lost, though it had started to take a toll on her. Feeling more closed off from everything, trapped in a way, at age 23, Ohwe retired from fighting for gil and, to avoid anyone who would be in the know, packed what she owned and moved to Limsa Lominsa without ever setting foot in the city state before.

Life in Limsa Lominsa was kind to the Seeker. The air had a certain, curious feel to it. Not as dry as Ul'dah, given the sea, but reminded her some of her life in The Shroud with the temperature most of the time. From here a decision to start over fresh was made, returning to her craft of lances as a start, and soon working her way to more intricate and decorative designs. While out one day offering her decorative lances for sale in Hawkers' Alley, one of her neighboring merchants approached Ohwe, offering a deal to her. The man would buy one of her lances, as well as pay her for her time, if she were to model some of his clothing he made, thinking the miqo'te to be attractive enough to entice more customers. Ohwe agreed to the deal, being paid for the lance, as well as paid 1,000,000 gil, a sum she thought to be too much, but she accepted it with little hesitation. Soon after, Ohwe found herself on a ship going to Kugane for a short trip, the craftsman along with her with a plan to expand his business, offering more western styles and wear to the east. With the miqo'te, the trip was a substantial success, and in addition to the initial payment, Ohwe received a percentage of the sales, as well as keeping the entire line the merchant had her model in, a gift she thought strange, but accepted, occasionally wearing the dresses at more formal occasions.

After a few more trips around with the man, and her 24th nameday come and passed, Ohwe once more found herself in a place of decisive change. Working with the merchant had brought some joy to the miqo'te and had inspired her in some ways, taking on more artistic hobbies for her own financial benefit, as well as her own time to freely express herself. After the last trip back from Kugane, she stumbled on a flyer, announcing the grand opening of a new nighttime club, the Playboy Mansion, and decided that she would go simply to see if the flyer was too good to be true or if it actually would be some place worthwhile. The first few visits over the coming weeks transformed the miqo'te, becoming slightly more social, finding a new circle of friends to spend time with, and finding her girlfriend. After participating in some events, she wanted to be of more use, and soon was hired as a bouncer at first, choosing to not want to dance due to some injuries she had sustained while fighting causing her to not have the best sense of balance.

Everything had been going well. A light lull in the miqo'te's life, but a sense of security in the stability, when one day, while relaxing at the beach near her home before work, a wave rushed onto shore, the undertow pulling her in, the next wave coming up to disrupt the current, and pushed her body into a rocky outcrop near the beach. Knocked unconscious and seriously injured, Ohwe was rescued by a fisher on the pier and quickly brought to a doctor, the wound to her left eye forcing an eye patch for a few weeks to come. What wasn't immediately clear was the hit to her head had made her memory hazy, remembering certain people at certain places, but not everyone or everything. Luckily, she did remember her girlfriend, and with her help, began to slowly recover, leaving behind a scar under her eye to remind her of the harrowing event.

Now though, in current times, Ohwe is much more secure with where she is in life. She still occasionally travels during the week when not working on a hobby or visiting an establishment, and still works at the Playboy Mansion, now both as security and as a dancer.
